DINING OUT ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Christmas Day – it’s a time for loved ones, fun, presents, and over-indulgence. And while many people love spending hours in the kitchen preparing for a big lunch, more and more families are opting for dining out on Chrissy Day. Thankfully, a range of packages are available locally, as Alli Grant discovered.

For many families, Christmas Day is a time for gathering with loved ones at home and enjoying a delicious spread around the dining room table. Think traditional homecooked festive feast with all the trimmings – roast meats with gravy, fresh Aussie seafood, homemade Christmas pudding, duck fat roast potatoes … and the list goes on. My mouth is watering at the thought of it.

However, for many, the thought of having to spend Christmas morning peeling, slicing, dicing, and baking brings on feelings of dread rather than feelings of joy. And who wants to feel anything but jolly on Chrissy Day? And, I’m just going to say it, 2021 has been a year, hasn’t it? Who knew it would surpass the craziness of 2020! So, I understand why many families decide to dine out on December 25.

The thought of not lifting a finger and having everything brought to me while I sit and enjoy a glass of bubbles does sound mighty tempting. Oh, and best of all, you don’t have to clean up after lunch!

And in fabulous news, several local restaurants are opening their doors on Christmas Day, with bookings already open (I suggest you get in quickly).
