Australia’s leading country music festival, CMC Rocks QLD, has confirmed the event is returning to Ipswich next year to mark a nine year connection with the district.
Willowbank Raceway will host another sensational event headlined by the world’s hottest international and local country music superstars, with a full artist line-up to be announced in the coming months.
The event has been set down for Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 17.
CMC Rocks QLD, was first lured to Ipswich by former mayor Paul Pisasale and has been a hit ever since.
Tickets regularly sell out within one day of going on sale.
It’s now regarded as Ipswich’s major event alongside the Winternationals and the V8 Super Cars which all provide a huge boost to the region, injecting millions of dollars into Ipswich’s economy.
Mayor Teresa Harding said Ipswich had now cemented itself as the home of country music and council was thrilled to welcome international artists and visitors from all over the country to kick their heels up here in the city.
“CMC Rocks QLD is one of Ipswich’s major events for the year and we are proud to be a major sponsor and supporter of live music.”
Economic and Industry Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Nicole Jonic said CMC Rocks helped to increase Ipswich’s profile and tourism industry.
“CMC Rocks grows in ticket sales year to year, topping 23,000 in 2023 compared to 22,000 in 2022, with 90 per cent of ticket buyers from outside the city – it’s a major contributor to our local economy,” she said.
“This is the southern hemisphere’s largest international country music festival and it generates more than 61,000 visitor nights in Ipswich, attracting about 19,000 visitors to this beautiful city.
“These festivalgoers stay in our hotels and eat at our cafes and restaurants, sharing their experiences with all their friends and family, so it’s a great chance for Ipswich to showcase all we have to offer.”
Chugg Entertainment Chairman Michael Chugg said March was a highlight of the year for the CMC Rocks community.
“We can’t wait to get back out to Ipswich next year, and you better believe we’ll be turning the heat up again in 2024,” Mr Chugg said.
CMC Rocks QLD continues to cement its place as Australia’s most significant country music event through featuring notable artists such as Luke Combs, Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, The Chicks, Morgan Wallen, Zac Brown Band and Kip Moore.
